3 sets 7 format change
To avoid foreshortened matches in this competition, the format has changed as follows.
Instead of three sets where the first player to score seven points wins the set, competitors will now play three sets of seven ends each. The highest score after seven ends wins the set. The first player to win two ends wins the match.
If scores are level after seven ends, a further ‘sudden death’ end will be played to determine the set winner.
This format means that all matches will last a minimum of 14 ends.
