Great win for Mylor Bridge

What a great start to the season.  This year Mylor Bridge was invited to enter the annual Spring Cup competition, held at Carnon Downs on 5th May.  As it was the first time we had been asked, we eagerly accepted.

The format consists of four invited clubs (this year it was ourselves, Carnon Downs, Truro City and Stithians), each fielding a team consisting of 2 men’s rinks and 1 ladies. Each team plays the other three clubs in 12-end games, with each rink scoring 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and nil for a loss.  So each game has a potential 9 points at stake.

After the first two games we had only amassed 7 points out of a possible 18 but a superb clean sweep in the final game boosted our total to 16

There was an anxious wait while the competition committee ratified the final totals and, to our delight, Mylor Bridge were announced worthy winners. The trophy was gratefully accepted by Elaine, our club captain.

Congratulations to all who took part in this event.  You did the club proud.
