2022 league teams planning
As ever we have to work ahead on preparations for our next outdoor season (2022) to ensure we have League matches for those that wish to play in the competitive side of bowls, and a suitable number of friendly games for those that are inclined towards those. In order to evaluate where we will be next year in terms of numbers, we request you consider your intentions and advise the relevant committee members asap with an indication of your plans.
For the Ladies this can be at the Ladies meeting on 19th November, or to Liz Maunder or Jan Barnard. For your information the Club has entered 2 x Rippon + 1 x Date teams. Is there any interest in an evening League team next year?
For the Men, as we don’t normally have a meeting until early in the new year, please pass the info to David House or myself. This is particularly relevant to any members who have routinely been playing in evening County / Mining League matches who feel they will not be available next year, as this will help us to evaluate numbers.
The County League Division 2 will consist of 3 x Triples for 2022, so for the middle of the season we need at least 12/9 players on a regular basis in the evenings. Mining League will also be 3 triples in Division 2 which does not affect us so we need 12/12 players on a regular basis in the evenings.
There is one further League that we potentially could enter. This is a 2-wood Triples League run by Group 4, played as 3 sets of Mixed Triples, so 9 players required. Playing start time is not specific, arranged on a game by game basis but is primarily aimed at evening play for working members. There are a couple of games early in the season, with a break when the County Leagues run, with the bulk of matches in late July, August and September.
Strollers games are expected to have a full schedule next year on Friday afternoons, and there are also likely to be friendly games requiring players on the majority of weekends.
Whilst Mike and Maggie Coe have volunteered to manage the Strollers team next year, we need volunteers to help with the organising of various teams and are seeking:
Mens Captain (and for the coming year also, the rotational post of Club Captain). As this is a committee position, the volunteer must have at least 1 year of membership. The position is responsible for organising teams for Friendly / Touring matches and attending committee meetings. THIS IS NEEDED NOW TO ASSIST WITH PLANNING WINTER INDOOR FRIENDLIES.
Mens A team manager & B Team Manager to select A & B teams, hopefully in collaboration, and also input into mixed competitions, prepare team sheets & report results.
If we enter the Mixed Triples, then we will also need a manager for the this competition.
Ladies will normally manage these positions via their meeting, or later nominations closer to the season start.
