Captain’s Day & Green Closure
On Saturday 26th September our bowling Green is due to close for the Winter. The day is normally reserved for a shortened match of bowls in some form, followed by a sit down meal, plus speeches / information for the Winter.
Due to the precautionary measures for Covid, our club house has been closed for the season but we have gradually, over the period of difficulty, managed to progress to having some very good games of bowls on an internal basis. Elaine and David (our Ladies and Men’s Captains) would like to see out this difficult year with one final day of bowls and getting together before we try to establish exactly what can be achieved over the winter months.
As yet it is not yet formulated precisely what format will be offered for the Captains day bowls, but the Captains have kindly offered to contribute a free pasty at lunch time for those that are attending.
It is intended that the events on the Green will start with a ‘Spider’ – entry fee £1 – prize has been arranged. It is also intended to hold a raffle during the day and if anyone has any prizes for this then please advise Elaine.
For the benefit of the club a small payment of £2 per attending person is requested.
So that Elaine and David can formulate a plan for the events of the day, and order those free pasties, could any members wishing to attend please advise any of the below persons a.s.a.p.
If numbers are significant then it will be hoped to offer morning and afternoon sessions, with the 2 sessions meshing around the pasty lunch, whilst ensuring we remain within the latest Guidlines. We are currently awaiting clarification from Bowls England of the ‘group of 6’ rule that has been introduced today as organised sports events are currently indicated as being exempt.
