A message from the Carpet Bowls team manager
The new Carpet Bowls season will begin in October.
Everybody is welcome to come and play Carpet Bowls whether you wish to play in the League Matches or just informal Roll Ups or Fun Friday Nights.
I would encourage those of you who are interested to put your names forward for the League teams, as the opportunity to play competitive games with other clubs will help improve your own game.
League Matches are played once a week from approximately the third week in October until the end of the second week in December. There is then a break until the start of the second week in January and then matches are played once a week until the end of the first week in March. These dates may vary depending on the number of teams entering the League. Each team may have a week when they do not play both before and after Xmas. The matches are usually on Tuesdays or Thursdays. (Occasionally matches are on a Monday or Wednesday) The matches are played against teams in the Camborne and Falmouth area. There is a team practise once a week, last year it was on a Monday morning. Each playing team consists of six players. Last year we entered 3 teams in the League which means we need, as a minimum, 22 available players.The informal Roll Ups are on a Tuesday and Thursday when the mats are not being used for a League Match.
A number of you have already signed up to play on the notice board in the Club House. However, we still need players for the League. Please consider having a go if you have never tried. You all play bowls so you just need to get used to a smaller rink and smaller bowls!
Another bonus for me is that you do not step to deliver the bowl so no pressure on knees or back other than bending!!!
Whether you play League or not, everyone is welcome to the Roll Ups or “FUN FRIDAY”, you can just turn up when you wish.
