Pipped at the Post

Two of our frequent representatives narrowly missed out on big honours recently.

Firstly, David House, playing in the County semi-final of the Secretaries’ cup at St Stephens, came up against Wadebridge’s young pretender, George Tinker who, not for the first time, just had the edge over Mylor’s experienced trooper.

A few days later, Sue Walker was playing in her own county sem-final, this time the Champion of Champions at Grampound, where she faced Liskeard’s Christine, fresh from playing at Leamington.  Despite leading for much of the match, Sue couldn’t quite get over the final hurdle, going down by a narrow three shots.

A great effort by both, flying the flag for the smaller, village clubs and the quality players within them.

Sue, delivering yet another jack!
