Captain’s Day

Captain’s Day, the traditional season closer, was held this year on 26th September.  It was well attended and it was great to see all six rinks competing in a sort of ‘pass the parcel’ format.  The winning team was decided on best aggregate score, which ended up as +10 for the team comprising Maria Knaggs, a new member who has only been bowling for a few weeks, Dave Gadd, who has a little more experience, and Norman Sancto, who started playing in 1922!

The weather stayed kind, if a little chilly later on and everyone was glad to get back to the clubhouse, for a warming pastie and cooling Magnum.  The day finished with the presentations for this year’s club competition winners. Not many photos of this were possible, as a large number of winners weren’t present, and most of the trophies were won by the same person!

Here’s to a successful Winter campaign on the mats, under a new roof, and looking forward to an even better season, on grass next year.
