Funeral Director’s Competition

You may be aware that Derek Shermon’s son Daniel, of Penryn and Falmouth Funeral Directors is keen to resurrect a competition for local Clubs for which they would provide cash prizes. Unfortunately, due to us starting late and the glut of other competitions especially over the next month or so, we have been unable to get sufficient outside support.

The plan now is to look to setting up the competition early next season. However, what we would like to do as a bit of a dry run is to use the weekend of 26th/27th July to host a drawn mixed triples competition forour own Members.

It has been proposed that those who enter would be divided into three levels of ability/experience from which teams would be drawn. The intention is to arrive at teams with broadly similar capabilities. Thisis important as cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Ideally we would like to get 8 teams of three to play in two pools of four. Each team would play 10 ends against the other three teams in their pool. The final format will depend on the level of interest. The winners of each pool would play off the final over 12 ends and the runners up in each pool would play off for third and fourth.

The fixture will appear on the website and you should sign up to play if you are interested. Don’t forget there is money to be won, and you can’t win if you don’t enter!

So please support this new initiative which is sure to be fun and for some will be pleasantly rewarding.
