Green reopening – increased playing opportunities
Following information for those that are already active on the list of members currently bowling, a separate message will be sent to other members giving latest information and offering opportunity to join us.
With the changes announced by the Government and the adjustments to Bowls England advice measures we are pleased to report the following steps onward in our journey towards enhancing the availability of bowling.
- OPENING OF THE BOWLING GREEN 7 DAYS PER WEEK FROM SATURDAY 6TH JUNE 2020
The current arrangements where Roger Mitchell arranges the rink booking for playing Monday to Friday will continue, and he expects to prepare the next 2 week rotation towards the end of next week once we have established if any further members wish to join us.
For Saturdays and Sundays rinks will now be made available in the same manner as during the week i.e. alternate rinks with times of:-
1000 hours – 1200 hours / 1400 hours – 1600 hours / 1800 hours – 2000 hours
For these weekend days only, a booking system will operate and members should ring Tony Hill, Tel No 01326 753495 to request a rink time. The person making the booking is responsible for his playing partner/s having registered and signed the necessary declaration and are fully aware of all playing regulations.
- PLAYING OF PAIRS
Members may now play games as pairs against other pairs, still subject to the safety social distancing requirements, I would stress that this is not a requirement but an opportunity if members wish to indulge in it.
For guidance on Social distancing the method on the rink should still be that only 1 person delivers or centres the jacks or places the mats, only your own woods should be handled. Player A stands at left hand corner of the green when not attending the head / mat, player B stands at the right. When proceeding to the other end player A walks up the LEFT of the rink and then player B follows at safe distance until reaching standing position at other end. Thus both sets of players pass each other whilst walking up their own LEFT hand side of the rink.
- SPECTATORS
Spectators will now be permitted at the club during the roll up sessions, however the club benches will not be placed out yet, therefore anyone wishing to have a seat it is suggested that they bring their own portable chair for their own protection from contamination.
