Report on Ladies National 2-wood
Kindly supplied by Liz Maunder
Last Sunday saw four of our Mylor ladies take to the green at Truro for the National 2-wood singles. It was good to see our club so well represented. We were lucky not to be drawn against each other and both Sue Walker and Elaine got down to the last four.
Having won her first game convincingly against Helen Allen ftom West End, Sue was then pitched against seasoned John’s player, Jenny Hosking. Sue played a fantastic game to beat Jenny but then had to play a third game against Truro’s Lesley Clayton, one of the best leads in the County. Having already played two very hard games, Sue was unable to make it a third, but she should be very proud of her excellent performance.
On the other rink, Elaine played another Truro player, Jeanette Cunnick. This proved to be a real cliff hanger with a drawn result on the last end. An extra end was required and with all four woods played it was difficult for spectators to know who had shot wood. Jeanette’s wood just sneaked in ahead of Elaine’s and so it was to be the two Truro players who progress to the County quarter final.
So very close but very well done to both Sue and Elaine.
